Deepening Sino-Australian Educational Cooperation | Ms. Guosheng Chen, RMIT Lifetime Honorary University Fellow Visits JIFT

From April 20 to April 22, 2026, Ms. Guosheng Chen from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) paid a visit to JIFT for exchange and communication. The Chairperson Tu Yanping, Vice President & Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Baojun, Assistant to the President Yi Cheng and Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office Liu Youfa were present at the reception.

Chairperson Tu Yanping had a cordial meeting with Ms. Guosheng Chen, extending a warm welcome to her visit. The two parties held in-depth and friendly discussions on establishing long-term communication channels and regular cooperation mechanisms. Key areas of collaboration explored included academic research, student and faculty exchanges, joint talent cultivation, course co-development, cultural and creative product R&D, and synergistic development via international competitions.

Assistant to the President Yi Cheng warmly welcomed Ms. Guosheng Chen and provided her with a comprehensive introduction of JIFT, covering its history, scale, academic disciplines, and talent cultivation.

Later, accompanied by Director Liu Youfa of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Associate Dean Chen Xiaoling of the School of Fashion Design and Associate Dean Liao Shiqin of the School of Fashion Engineering, Ms. Guosheng Chen paid an on-site tour of JIFT’s core teaching and R&D platforms, gaining detailed insights into JIFT’s practices and achievements in talent cultivation for the entire fashion industrial chain, inheritance and revitalization of intangible cultural heritage crafts, boosting the high-quality upgrading of local textile and garment industry, and facilitating high-quality employment for graduates.

On the afternoon of April 21, Ms. Guosheng Chen was invited to deliver a special lecture on internationalized education for the faculty and students.

She emphasized that in the era of globalization, young students should view the social systems, cultural differences, and values of different countries with a rational mindset. It is vital for them to hone core sustainable competencies, such as critical thinking and innovation. Furthermore, she advised students to use AI tools wisely while upholding their humanistic values and adhering to AI ethics. By continuously improving their ability to discern information and adapt to future careers, students can rely on comprehensive qualities to navigate the changing times and anchor their long-term development.

Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office Liu Youfa presided over the lecture
