Xiqiao’s textile upgrading and development gains another strong boost. On December 18, Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology and Paris College of France signed a cooperation agreement in Xiqiao. The two sides agreed to jointly build a China teaching center at the China-France Fashion Design Innovation Center (Xiqiao), and promote the cultivation of fashion industry talents and the integrated upgrading of local industries through joint construction of industry-university-research bases and co-hosting of cultural and art exchange activities.
According to the introduction, Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology is a full-time regular undergraduate university oriented to the development of the fashion industry. Paris College of France is a private higher education institution also dedicated to cultivating professionals for the fashion and apparel industry. This cross-border cooperation is supported by the solid industrial foundation of the Xiqiao textile industry and the promotion of government support.
Xiqiao is a famous textile town in China. To date, there are more than 840 textile enterprises in the town, with an annual output of 4 billion meters of various textile fabrics. Xiqiao denim fabric accounts for about 25% of the global market share. On December 6, Yi Cheng, Member of the Party Committee, Assistant President and Dean of the School of Fashion Media of Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology, led a team to conduct an on-site investigation in Xiqiao, where the development foundation and prospects of “Xiqiao Textile” were highly recognized.
The new cooperation covers industry-university-research collaboration, and will empower fashion education, cultural exchanges between the two places, as well as the transformation and upgrading of the Xiqiao textile industry. According to the plan, Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology and Paris College of France will carry out joint cooperation in talent training, industrial chain services and international exchanges.
Specifically, Paris College of France will bring its advantages in fashion education to Xiqiao and jointly build an industry-university-research education base with Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology. The two sides will regularly promote exchange and cooperation projects such as cultural lectures, forums and art festivals. Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology also plans to set up an alumni base at the China-France Fashion Design Innovation Center (Xiqiao), hold alumni events in conjunction with Xiqiao Town, attract enterprises to settle locally, and connect fashion industry resources.
At the signing ceremony, Yi Cheng stated that France is a world fashion center with outstanding educational resources and rich industrial experience, while Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology is rooted in the core area of China’s apparel industry with a solid industrial foundation and innovative vitality. Taking this opportunity, Jiangxi Institute of Fashion Technology will open a new chapter in international education.
As the representative of Paris College of France and Chairman of the China-France Fashion Design Innovation Center (Xiqiao), Fan Zhe expressed high expectations for the new cooperation: “This is an important opportunity for the two universities to complement each other’s strengths and achieve common development, and we will jointly cultivate more fashion talents with a global vision.”
Jiang Fuzhang, Deputy Mayor of Xiqiao Town, pointed out that this cooperation highly meets the needs of Xiqiao’s industrial development.
