On October 8, 2024, the English Association successfully held its first English Corner activity of this semester in the Academic Video Hall on the third floor of the library. The activity aimed to provide a free and open environment to help students improve their English communication skills and enhance cross-cultural communication competence.On the day of the activity, the atmosphere was lively and warm, attracting many English enthusiasts to participate actively. Notably, foreign teachers Matthew and Zandalee also attended the event and had in-depth exchanges and interactions with the students. They not only shared interesting experiences during the seven-day National Day holiday but also encouraged students to share their own stories in English, which greatly inspired the students’ enthusiasm for participation.
The theme of this English Corner was "What did you do during the Seven-day National Day?".This theme was close to students’ daily life and aroused wide resonance among them.In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, students took turns to talk about their experiences, feelings and insights during the National Day holiday in English.They not only practiced their oral English skills, but also enhanced mutual understanding and friendship.
The successful holding of this English Corner not only provided a stage for members of the English Association to demonstrate their language skills, but also built a bridge for English lovers across the university to learn from each other and make progress together.Through such activities, the English Association hopes to help students communicate in English more confidently in future study and life, broaden their international vision, and lay a solid foundation for their future career development.
